Douglas
K. Belland, Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Choral Society, received
his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory
of Music. Dr. Belland’s ensembles have appeared at Carnegie Hall,
the White House, Notre Dame Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, among many
other venues. In 1998, he was named a Fellow by the professional choral
organization, Melodious Accord, directed by Alice Parker. He has prepared
choruses for John Rutter, Alice Parker, Daniel Pinkham and Eric Kunzel,
among others. The Choral Society premiered his Lenten Soliloquy for
Chorus and Chamber Orchestra in 2001, and his setting of Psalm
86 was premiered in 2002. He serves as director of music at Mason
United Methodist Church and is an active adjudicator, guest conductor/clinician
and composer/arranger. |
