Douglas K. Belland, musical director of the Cincinnati Choral Society since 1995, received his doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Dr. Belland’s choral ensembles have appeared at Carnegie Hall, the White House, Notre Dame Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and many other notable venues. In addition, he has prepared choruses for such distinguished composer/conductors as John Rutter, Alice Parker, Daniel Pinkham and Erich Kunzel. In 1998, Dr. Belland was named a fellow by Melodius Accord, the professional choral organization directed by Alice Parker. In 2001, the Cincinnati Choral Society premiered his Lenten Soliloquy for Chorus and Chamber Orchestra and in 2002, his setting of Psalm 86. Dr. Belland is an active adjudicator, guest conductor/clinician, composer/arranger and performer, singing professionally with the Encore Men’s Quartet. For many years he also has served as director of music at Mason United Methodist Church.
